What are the top three things people should know about your business?
- Vancouver Film Studios is the only B Corp-certified, purpose-built sound stage in North America!
- We are also home to over 50,000 bees that buzz around our lot, producing over 50 pounds of honey each year.
- We love our community and our staff—we wouldn’t be able to achieve any of what we have over the past 25 years without those relationships.
What inspired you to get involved with WeTheChange?
Last year at the B Corp Champions Retreat I was able to attend a WeTheChange happy hour and felt so inspired by all the amazing people in the room. It was incredible to see such support and encouragement for one another and I knew it was a space I wanted our company to be a part of.
What has been your greatest accomplishment or joy in your leadership journey?
Meeting other leaders! I think getting to learn from others’ experiences and hear what their perspectives have been has shaped how I approach certain situations and improved my own communication skills along the way.
What has been your greatest challenge?
Just because you’re a leader doesn’t mean that people will necessarily follow. People are all unique and the ways in which some people connect to leadership are different from others and that is completely fine! Everyone will respond to something different and all you can do as a leader is show up in an authentic and transparent way that relates most to you.
What’s something most people don’t know or wouldn’t guess about you?
My background isn’t in impact or sustainability! I’m a film nerd at heart but I am grateful for this space that has allowed me to learn, grow and make mistakes.
